Trusts and administration
The law relating to Trusts is concerned with the situation where property and assets of all kinds and descriptions are put into the ownership and control of a person (or more usually and group of persons ‘the Trustees’) to hold and administer for the benefit of another person or group of people (‘the Beneficiaries’).
Trusts are used for very many purposes including the protection of minors and vulnerable persons. Traditionally, special forms of Trusts were used to secure the handing down from generation to generation of landed estates.
From time to time, Trusts have been used to mitigate death duties (Inheritance Tax) although the use of Trusts for this purpose are often (and are presently) under attack from the Government of the day.
Whether or not Trusts are used for Tax planning, Trusts remain an important and significant area of the law which our firm has specialised in for very many years.
